Be a Farmer Initiative Launches at Organo Kandhawada

Organo Et School (OES) invites children aged 8 to 14 years to be a part of an enriching and immersive program — “Be a Farmer” — starting on 30th April 2026 at Organo Kandhawada. This unique initiative is designed to reconnect children with the roots of life by giving them the opportunity to experience farming first-hand.

In today’s fast-paced, urban lifestyle, children are often disconnected from nature and the origins of their food. The Be a Farmer program bridges this gap by offering a meaningful learning experience where children step into the role of a farmer and understand the journey from soil to plate.

Why Every Child Should Experience Farming

Farming is not just about growing plants — it is about nurturing life and learning essential values. Through this program, children will:

  • Discover where their food comes from

  • Learn how to care for the soil

  • Develop awareness of nature and changing weather

  • Build a deeper appreciation for food

  • Understand plant life cycles and farm ecosystems

  • Experience the joy of harvesting what they grow

The program includes:

  • Seasonal saplings, seeds and farming tools

  • Natural inputs like jeevamrutham and neem oil

  • Weekly guidance from experienced farming coaches

  • Structured schedules for farming activities

In addition to farming, children will be introduced to the seven strands of sustainability through engaging workshops led by professionals:

  • A visit to the goshala to learn about biogas systems

  • Sensory learning sessions with clay

  • Slow Food Cooking

  • Painting using natural colors

What We Expect from Participants

Children are encouraged to actively engage in all farming activities such as soil preparation, seeding, weeding, mulching, tending, and harvesting. They are required to:

  • Visit the farm at designated times every weekend

  • Wear appropriate outdoor attire and footwear

  • Follow farm-friendly practices

  • Carry their own food, water, and essentials

  • Bring reusable bags to take home their harvest

Learning Beyond the Field

By the end of the crop cycle (April–June), children will:

  • Gain hands-on experience in growing seasonal crops

  • Understand natural farming practices

  • Observe the farming cycle through the monsoon season

  • Learn about plant care and life cycles

  • Receive a certificate from OES upon completion

  • Be featured on the OES website and social media, celebrating their journey and efforts

The Be a Farmer program is more than an activity — it is a life experience that nurtures curiosity, responsibility, and a deep connection with nature.
