Preparing for Primary Year Program (PYP) Exhibition
An experiential learning journey into sustainability, inquiry, and responsible action
On 31st March 2026, we were delighted to welcome 20 students from Indus International School to Organo Antharam for a meaningful field visit as part of their PYP Exhibition journey. The visit provided students with an opportunity to inquire into sustainability and explore alternate sources of energy through real-world experiences.
Inquiry: Understanding Sustainable Living by Design
The visit began with an engaging introduction by Kalyani S, who guided students to think about how eco-living habitats are intentionally designed to work with nature. Students explored how the use of natural daylight and ventilation can significantly reduce dependence on artificial energy.

At the solar parking zone, students inquired into how centralized solar systems function. They learned how such systems help in reducing rooftop load, simplifying wiring, and ensuring better long-term maintenance. This sparked curiosity about how solar energy can be integrated efficiently into everyday living spaces.
As they walked through Ravepalle cluster, students observed how thoughtful architectural features help reduce energy demand. They explored:

These observations encouraged students to question how design itself can become a powerful tool for sustainability.
Inquiry in Action: Experiencing Sustainable Practices

The learning extended to the farm, where students discovered how crops are grown using sustainable practices. They were introduced to the concept of a circular system—where organic waste from households is converted into compost and returned to the soil, completing a natural cycle.

Their curiosity deepened during the visit to the goshala and biogas plant. Here, students explored how energy can be generated beyond solar power.

They learned how organic waste and cow dung are processed in a sealed biogas digester to produce usable fuel. This experience challenged their understanding of “waste” and helped them see it as a valuable resource.
Action: Learning by Doing

A key highlight of the visit was the hands-on DIY solar activity. Students actively engaged in constructing simple solar models, observing how solar panels can power a light, fan, and buzzer. This practical experience strengthened their conceptual understanding and empowered them to see how alternate energy can be applied in daily life.
Reflection: Inspiring Responsible Choices

The visit concluded with a reflection session, where students shared their thoughts and takeaways. Many expressed a desire to reduce energy consumption and explore alternative energy sources in their own lives.
This PYP Exhibition field visit was not just about learning concepts—it was about nurturing inquiry, encouraging meaningful action, and inspiring young learners to become responsible, environmentally conscious individuals.
