On 22nd June 2026, Organo Et School, in collaboration with the Friends of Snake Society (FOSS), conducted an insightful Snake Awareness Workshop for the Organo Facility Management (OFM) team at Organo Antharam. Around 70 participants attended the session, gaining valuable insights into snake behavior, identification, and safe response practices.

Mr. Arun Paul and Mr. Rakesh from the Friends of Snake Society (FOSS) led the session, which was specially designed for the Organo Facility Management (OFM) team, who actively work within the community and are more likely to encounter snakes in their day-to-day environment.
Understanding this need, the workshop focused on building practical awareness, safety, and confidence in handling such situations. Their valuable insights and real-world guidance made the session highly informative and relevant.

Mr Rakesh, introduced participants to seven different species of snakes, explained key differences between venomous and non-venomous varieties.Through clear demonstrations and simple explanations, they helped the team understand how to identify snakes and respond appropriately in a calm and informed manner.

One of the most important takeaways from the session was the emphasis on coexistence. The experts highlighted that snakes generally do not harm humans unless they are disturbed. By maintaining distance and avoiding unnecessary interference, the chances of snake bites can be significantly reduced. This helped address common fears and myths, replacing them with factual understanding.

The workshop also covered essential first aid measures and the correct steps to follow in case of a snake bite. This practical knowledge was especially valuable for the OFM team, equipping them with the confidence to handle emergency situations responsibly until professional medical help is available.

The session was highly interactive, with participants actively asking questions based on real-life scenarios they face within the community. The FOSS team patiently addressed every query, ensuring clarity and building a sense of preparedness among the participants.

Beyond safety, the workshop also highlighted the ecological importance of snakes and their role in maintaining biodiversity. Participants gained a deeper appreciation for these often misunderstood creatures and the need to respect their place in the ecosystem.

Overall, the workshop proved to be a meaningful and impactful initiative, empowering the OFM team with the knowledge and awareness required to coexist safely with wildlife. It reinforced the idea that awareness and understanding are key to reducing fear and promoting harmony between humans and nature.
