On 23rd July 2022, Organo Et School organised Microgreens Macro benefits workshop at Togetherments Miyapur, Hyderabad https://www.2getherments.com/ksrs-togetherments. The residents of this community are willing to embrace Eco-friendly living in urban settings, in the best possible manner.

Thus, OES has launched a series of workshops based on Sapthpatha- the 7 strands of sustainability, for residents of 2getherments. The first workshop in this series was held 3 months ago, Kitchen Gardening in Urban Settings. The second one was organized last month, Home Composting Made Easy https://www.2getherments.com/articles/act-of-segregation-at-home-level. The third workshop in the series, Microgreens Macro benefits, was organised on Saturday evening, on the 12th floor of the apartments at Organic Café. https://www.2getherments.com/ksrs-togetherments#:~:text=Conversation%20Court-,Organic%20Cafe,-Lawn%20Tennis%20Court

All the participants were given a Do It Yourself (DIY) experience along with experts. This DIY workshop was conducted by Venkatesh Nallamilli Farm coach & Manager-Farming and Animal Husbandry at Organo Eco-habitats. Each participant was given an individual workstation with material for growing microgreens. They followed the expert’s instructions while learning how to grow microgreens with minimum effort and in an eco-friendly way. They all used coconut shells containers for growing these microgreens. Later in an interactive session the benefits of microgreens being healthy and nutritious options in today’s fast paced lifestyle were discussed.

As the workshop progressed into the next leg of using microgreens in daily diet to gain health benefits, our second expert Ms. Lavanya Kurakula demonstrated how to incorporate microgreens into salads in an innovative way. She engaged the children very interestingly, by asking them to follow the steps of salad making along with her. The salad was an invigorating mix of fresh vegetables and cottage cheese with lots of sunflower microgreens thrown in. All the residents enjoyed this salad served by little hands of volunteering kids.

OES specializes in supporting the participants across workshops, start their Eco living journey successfully and without any roadblocks. Here too, OES provided them with a Microgreen starter kit. This small kit included coconut shell containers, cocopeat, different types of seeds, a spray glass bottle, a pair of scissors, along with an instructions sheet as well as a growth tracker chart to facilitate their journey of growing healthy and safe food.

OES director Meena Murugappan requested all the participants to take back homework from this workshop and start growing microgreens at their new homes and share the picture of the same. With Ms. Murugappan discussing various aspects of their green journey in this recently inhabited apartment complex, this OES workshop closed. We thanked both the experts while looking forward to the pictures of participants sowing microgreens.
