On 18th December 25, two architecture students from National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli visited Organo Antharam as part of a case study to understand how sustainability principles can be integrated into contemporary habitat design. Developed by Organo Eco Habitats, Organo Antharam serves as a living example of an eco-conscious residential community.

The students were guided through the project by Ms. Susmita Changkakoty, Program Coordinator at Organo Et School. During the tour, she explained the framework followed by Organo and how sustainability is thoughtfully embedded into the design and planning of the eco-habitat. The discussion highlighted several key aspects that contribute to the project’s holistic approach to sustainable living.

Mr. Narendhar Vadthyavath, farming supervisor, explained how the goshala and biogas system at Organo Antharam work together to create a self-sustaining ecosystem. He described how cow manure is used to produce renewable energy through biogas, while the remaining slurry returns to the soil as a natural fertilizer that nourishes plants and supports sustainable farming.

Students learned about the concept of bio-fencing, where natural plant barriers are used to protect and enrich the ecosystem. The role of solar power generation within the community was also explained, demonstrating how renewable energy can support a low-carbon lifestyle. The tour further explored the use of natural and locally sourced materials in constructing shelters, emphasizing environmentally responsible building practices.

Water management systems, landscape design, and farming practices were also key highlights of the visit. These elements not only enhance biodiversity within the habitat but also promote ecological balance. In addition, the students learned how the project contributes to the well-being of its residents while also creating positive social impact by supporting and uplifting the livelihoods of people living in nearby villages.
The visit offered valuable insights into how architecture, environment, and community well-being can come together to create a sustainable and resilient habitat.
Organo Et School empowers people to embrace eco-living mindsets, behaviors, and habits. We recognize that for any positive impact to be sustainable, it must be long-term and inter-generational.
UNESCO recognized Organo Et School as a green citizen initiative and Uplink, the open innovation platform of the World Economic Forum (WEF) recognized OES as Global Innovative Solution.
Organo Et School is an experiential learning initiative set up by Organo in 2017 and has been facilitating field visits and workshops for Schools and Interest Groups.
