Microgreens are tiny seedlings of vegetables and herbs that are harvested at an early stage of growth, usually within 10–14 days. Though small in size, they are rich in nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants, making them a powerful addition to a healthy diet. Growing microgreens is simple, requires minimal space, and can easily be done at home, encouraging people to grow fresh and nutritious food in their own surroundings.

On 13th December, a Microgreens Workshop was organized at Organo Damaragidda to introduce participants to the concept and practice of growing microgreens.

The session was led by expert Sreedevi Ande, who explained the basics of microgreens cultivation. Participants learned about the suitable growing medium, different types of seeds that can be used, and the simple steps involved in nurturing microgreens.

One of the most inspiring aspects of the workshop was the spirit of intergenerational learning. Participants from different age groups shared the space, learning together and exchanging ideas about food, health, and sustainable living.

The workshop also included a hands-on experience where participants practiced seed sowing and understood the care required during the growing process.

They observed microgreens grown over a two-week period, allowing them to see the different stages of growth.

The session concluded with the harvesting of fresh microgreens, giving participants a complete understanding of the process from sowing to harvest and highlighting how such small greens can bring macro benefits to health. The excitement and curiosity of the participants made the session lively and engaging, showing how simple gardening practices can bring people together while promoting healthier lifestyles and environmental awareness.
