On 20th September 2025, the residents of Organo Antharam gathered for an engaging program titled “Living with Nature: Discovering the Biodiversity of Organo Antharam.” Around 15 members participated in this interactive session, designed to help the community explore and appreciate the rich biodiversity surrounding their homes.
The event began with a welcome note from Mr. Harminder Singh, Associate Vice President, who introduced the team. This was followed by a presentation by Ms. Kalyani from Organo Et School (OES). In her opening remarks, she spoke about the importance of biodiversity and why its conservation is vital for the health of ecosystems and communities.

Also present at the event were Dr. Parmesh and Mr. Mallikarjun from Falcon Resilient Infra Consultants, who had conducted a detailed biodiversity study at Organo Antharam. Their insights added scientific depth to the session, helping residents connect the data with their lived experience of the eco-habitat.

Residents were delighted to learn that Organo Antharam is home to 495 plant species. This remarkable diversity includes:

The Shannon Index for flora is 2.10, reflecting high species diversity, while the Simpson Index of 0.09 shows that no single species dominates. Together, this means Antharam’s plant life is not only abundant but also balanced – creating a strong ecological foundation that supports birds, insects, and mammals.
Antharam is also home to 184 species of fauna, which highlights the vibrancy of its living ecosystems. This includes:

The site currently supports a smaller range of animal species compared to natural habitats. This is expected and normal for a newly constructed eco-habitat, as faunal diversity grows slowly over time. With its rich base of flora and supportive habitats, Antharam is well-positioned to see a steady increase in fauna diversity in the years ahead.
The data also shows that while mammals are fewer, birds and insects are flourishing, supported by abundant food, water, and safe nesting habitats created through mindful design.

Beyond visible plants and animals, Organo Antharam is alive with fascinating, often unnoticed beings – fungi, soil microbes, earthworms, and native bees. These small organisms recycle nutrients, fertilize soil, and ensure pollination. They are the hidden heroes that form the very foundation of biodiversity and food security.
Residents were excited to discover the richness of life that exists around them. From majestic trees to delicate butterflies, and from reptiles to microbes, the session opened their eyes to the interconnectedness of nature. Many shared that they now feel a deeper appreciation for the eco-habitat they live in and a stronger responsibility to conserve it.

The program concluded with a key message: Organo Antharam is not just a community – it is an eco-habitat where biodiversity is preserved, nurtured, and celebrated. By protecting and encouraging plant and animal life, Antharam builds resilience against droughts, pests, and climate challenges. More importantly, it fosters a lifestyle where humans live in harmony with the natural world, supported by fertile soil, clean water, and fresh food.
Here, living with nature is not an idea – it is a way of life.
