As the Be a Farmer batch-4 participants gathered at Organo Et School Children’s farm campus on the morning of 18th Sept. 2022, the OES team was prepared to welcome them all.
This being the day to harvest what the children had grown over a period of almost 10 weeks, with hard work and commitment to be at the farm every Sunday. The plants yielded Okra, Chilies, and Tomatoes along with radishes for them to fill their harvest cloth bags. All of them really enjoyed harvesting and when asked about their favourite activity at the farm, almost all unanimously said they loved harvesting the vegetables from their patches.
Subsequently they all washed up and came to form a circle for the graduation ceremony. Ms.Meena Murugappan spoke to each one of them about their experience of this farming journey and asked them to help grow few vegetables at home as well. She offered all the help, they need while they farm at their homes. It was very encouraging for us to hear that most of them promised to try growing coriander and chilies in pots at their respective homes.
With this we came to the completion of this 8 weeks farming experience for kids from urban settings in Hyderabad. Completion certificates were awarded to all the young farmers as an appreciation of their efforts on this exploration and educative journey. OES is very proud to award the 4th Batch of BE a Farmer completion certificates. Then we thanked Shilpa Teja our farm coach and all the parents for tirelessly dedicating their Sundays for Organo Et School’s initiative of moving towards a sustainable future and better environment.
