On 12th July 2025, Organo Et School (OES) hosted a hands-on Clay Moulding Workshop for the residents of Organo Antharam at the Velagapalle Cluster Club. The workshop was facilitated by the talented duo Mr. Sharanya Vemu and Mrs. Preethi Vemu, who brought with them not just expertise, but a deep love for the art of clay work.

Hands that Shape, Minds that Imagine

The session began around 3:30 pm, as participants of all ages gathered with enthusiasm, ready to dive into the world of clay. The facilitators distributed clay and demonstrated the basics of moulding it into different forms using simple techniques.

Participants were encouraged to explore freely and create with their hands—turning lumps of clay into imaginative shapes. The workshop focused on free-hand sculpting, allowing creativity to flow without restrictions.

Tools, Textures & Techniques

Sharanya and Preethi introduced participants to a variety of clay tools and explained their practical uses. In an exciting twist, they also encouraged the use of everyday kitchen items like rolling pins, cutters, etc to shape and texture the clay.

To make the creations more engaging, participants used leaves to imprint natural textures onto their clay pieces—connecting art with nature in a truly organic way.

The session covered:

  • Basic hand-building techniques
  • Tips for using water while working with clay
  • The role of simple tools in shaping clay
  • An introduction to different types of clay used in pottery
  • Baking techniques

A Community of Creators

What made the workshop especially heartwarming was the intergenerational participation. Everyone engaged with equal excitement - moulding, pressing, and shaping clay into their own artistic expressions.

The energy in the room was lively, filled with laughter, curiosity, and a shared joy of learning something new. It was not just a workshop—it was a moment of community, creativity, and mindful connection.

Closing Thoughts

This clay moulding workshop was more than just an artistic activity—it was a celebration of imagination, sustainability, and community learning. Organo Et School continues to foster such enriching experiences that bring people together to learn by doing, reconnect with traditional crafts, and engage with materials from nature in meaningful ways.
