What happens when children get the opportunity to harvest their own food, create delicious recipes, and taste fruits straight from nature? At Rurban Loft on 11th April, young learners experienced exactly that through a day filled with curiosity, hands-on learning, and joyful discoveries.

The session began with the harvesting of fresh microgreens. As children carefully snipped the tiny greens, they learned about the journey of food from seed to plate and discovered why microgreens are often called "superfoods." Through interactive discussions, they explored the nutritional benefits of microgreens, including their rich vitamin, mineral, and antioxidant content. Inspired by what they learned, the children sowed their own seeds, understanding the importance of patience, care, and observation in growing healthy food.

The learning became even more exciting when Chef Suman from Slow Down Place joined the session. Using the freshly harvested microgreens, children participated in creating simple and nutritious recipes. They observed how fresh ingredients can transform everyday meals and experienced the joy of preparing food using produce they had harvested themselves.

Adding to the excitement was a visit to the mulberry trees. Children eagerly plucked ripe mulberries, tasting the sweet fruits directly from the source. The experience sparked conversations about seasonal fruits, local food systems, and the value of fresh produce. Many children carefully collected some of their harvest to share with their families, extending the learning experience beyond the farm.
The day beautifully connected nature, nutrition, farming, and food, helping children understand that every meal begins with a seed and grows through care, patience, and respect for nature.
