On 21st March 2026, an engaging and insightful Early Years Programme (EYP) workshop was conducted at Shantiniketan International School, bringing together around 30 enthusiastic teachers committed to shaping meaningful learning experiences for young children.
The session began with Ms. Kalyani introducing the importance of integrating sustainability at an early stage in a child’s development. She highlighted how the early years are critical in shaping values, attitudes, and behaviours, and emphasized the vital role teachers play in nurturing sustainability through everyday classroom practices.

A key theme of the workshop was the idea that repetitive actions lead to habits, and habits eventually shape culture. Through this perspective, teachers reflected on how small, consistent actions within the classroom can lead to long-term behavioural change in children.

The workshop also focused on practical ways to integrate sustainability across everyday subjects. Teachers explored how environmental awareness can be seamlessly woven into language, mathematics, art, and play-based learning—moving beyond isolated lessons to create a more holistic and meaningful learning experience.

Additionally, Ms. Susmita introduced the participants to various initiatives, activities, and workshops conducted by Organo Et School (OES) as part of the STEL (Sustainability Through Experiential Learning) framework, offering educators a broader perspective on how sustainability can be brought alive through hands-on, experiential approaches.

Overall, the session was interactive, reflective, and action-oriented, equipping educators with ideas and tools to foster environmentally conscious mindsets from the early years. The workshop marked an important step toward building classrooms where sustainability is not just taught, but lived every day.
