On 13th March, a Waste Management Workshop was conducted at Kawkuntla Zilla Parishad High School, engaging 37 enthusiastic students from Grades 6 to 8. The session aimed to introduce young learners to the importance of responsible waste handling and sustainable practices in their daily lives.

The workshop was led by waste management expert Mr. Sridhar, who brought both knowledge and practical insights to the session. He began by explaining the different types of waste—wet and dry and highlighted the importance of segregation at the source. Through simple examples, students were able to understand how everyday waste can be managed more effectively at home and in their surroundings.

A key highlight of the session was the introduction to basic composting methods. Sridhar demonstrated how organic waste such as food scraps can be converted into nutrient-rich compost, reducing the burden on landfills and contributing to healthier soil. The concept of “waste as a resource” was emphasized, helping students see waste from a new and positive perspective.
To reinforce their learning, students

participated in an activity sheet exercise where they identified different types of waste and explored appropriate ways to manage them. This interactive component made the session engaging and ensured better understanding.

The workshop created a strong sense of awareness among students about their role in protecting the environment. By combining knowledge with hands-on learning, the session empowered them to adopt simple yet impactful waste management practices in their daily lives.
