The incredible journey of OES in 2022 has a perfect ending. From the 23rd to the 25th of December Organo Et School (OES) has been part of the Hyderabad Kid’s Fair in its 15th edition. It is a big moment for OES as it has never participated in an event of this size. We prepared our best to make the most out of this opportunity to interact with people from all walks of life. We shared our dream to empower people to embrace eco-living solutions, mindsets, and habits.

Educative seed guessing game and activity books

With interesting activity books for children and a seed guessing game for all ages, our stall attracted 1000+ visitors. While designing the game we didn’t expect that would be a such huge attraction. Children and adults loved the game so much, they all participated in this game with a lot of enthusiasm. There were 14 types of seeds arranged to be guessed and all the participants who guessed 3 or more were given seeds as gifts. Among the 14 seeds, half of them are treated and the other half are untreated. It was intentional to make people aware of how natural the untreated seeds look and how chemical-coated treated seeds shine.

All our activity sheets based on sustainability are made into a book that is very much liked by children, especially sheets that involve coloring. We gave this book as a free gift to all the parents who have shown interest in joining our upcoming programs. We requested them to share the scanned copies with us after working on them as we wanted to publish them on our website.

Meaningful interactions with parents, children and collaborators

When we shared the concepts of our farming programs which are designed by us to make children reconnect with the soil, understand crop growth, and experience the joy of harvesting, most of the parents instantly loved our concept. They expressed that this unique concept of making children learn farming is essential in our times. Some parents told us that our farm is far from the city, to which we have answered “We intentionally choose the location to encourage families to spend their Sunday mornings outside the city. Instead of hanging out at Malls and Cinemas, for 8 weeks a year, we are encouraging families to choose nature experience.”

We met collaborators who are willing to work with us in scaling up our concept. Many school teachers said that they want their students to experience farming and some of them wanted their schools to adopt our concept. The stall owners around our stall also showed interest in knowing about us. Some of them played our seed guessing game and some wanted to be part of our future programs.

Many stories filled with hopes of adopting sustainability

We spoke with a housewife who wants her home to be filled with plants but doesn’t know how to start her journey, a teenager who wants to learn pottery, a child genuinely curious about plants, a family who wants her 3-year-old child to jump into the soil and play and so many individuals who are willing to embrace eco living habits, behaviors, and mindsets.

Those active and meaningful interactions with all of them give us the confidence to go forward courageously in our journey of mainstreaming sustainable living. Ending this article with a wish that OES will participate in more events as grand and big as Hyderabad Kid’s Fair in the coming new year.
