The SIS Engage 2023 Teacher’s Conference is all about providing a setting and stage for educators, administrators, and coaches to share and develop new knowledge and understandings to better engage everyone in their schools in learning.

As a Diamond Sponsor, we had the opportunity to showcase our initiatives to nearly 250+ teachers and educators, 5 cities, 31 workshops and 2 inspirational keynote presentations from across India, and to dialogue with key decision-makers about partnerships on education in sustainability.

Ms. Meena Muragappan, Director of OES, started the presentation by reflecting on her journey towards become an advocate for education on sustainability and the many efforts of Organo Et School in empowering people to adopt eco-living mindsets. She recollected how her teachers inspired her to express her thoughts through writing and encouraged her to participate in UN competitions on Global Warming Awareness.

She remembered how her teachers had sown the seeds of sustainability 30 years ago. She explained how Organo practices seven strands of sustainability to achieve Samvriddhi - wholistic inclusive growth for all. Talking about Organo Et School support for progressive schools, she said “OES helps schools and institutions

1. Transition to become legacy eco schools

2. Guide teachers with grade-specific and topic-specific field visits and experts

3. Work with pedagogical teams to integrate STEL (Sustainability through Experiential Learning) into the curriculum and timetable

4. Offer volunteering and practical learning experiences to teacher groups and internships to high school students.”

Focused on teacher health and well-being, we gifted all the teachers a goodie bag that had nutritious goodies such as rajamudi rice, moong dal, pepper, jeera, jaggery powder, foxtail millet, jowar flour, and ghee along with a specially designed book on “Nutrition for teachers and their families”. Download the E-Book from our Library We also shared a book on how we assist progressive educational institutions in Hyderabad to become more earth-focused campuses. This was happily received by all teachers.

Many teachers visited our stall to know more about how we can help their students in learning more experientially, some of them asked us if and how they can bring their students on field trips to our eco-habitats to see sustainability in action. Other sponsors of the event also expressed their willingness to lend a helping hand to us in whatever way they can. Additionally, teachers thoroughly enjoyed the seed identification game at our stall.

For us, this was a wonderful opportunity to interact with teachers from across the country and learn about their approaches to inculcate sustainability in the daily lessons they teach. These discussions and interactions gave us hope to partner with progressive schools in Hyderabad to make children future-ready for a changing world.
