On 11th September 2025, Organo Et School (OES) conducted an engaging and interactive program titled “Know Your Birds” for the children of Mandal Parishad Primary Government School at Venkannaguda. The session was designed for students of Classes 1 to 5 with the aim of introducing them to the fascinating world of birds and creating early awareness about the importance of biodiversity.

The program began with a warm-up activity where children introduced themselves and spoke about their family members. This opening activity immediately brought a sense of comfort and excitement, as the children joyfully shared about their families, setting the tone for an interactive session.

Ms. Kalyani from OES then addressed the children and spoke about the role of birds in our ecosystem. She highlighted why birds are important, their different habitats, and how they contribute to maintaining balance in nature. Special emphasis was given to the fact that Venkannaguda, being a small village in Chevella Mandal of Rangareddy District, offers children a unique opportunity to connect with nature every day. Since many children walk from their homes to school, this daily journey can itself become a nature-learning experience where they observe birds and their surroundings.

During the session, children were introduced to some commonly seen birds such as the Cattle Egret(పాలు డేగ (Palu Dēga) or పాలు కొంగ (Palu Konga) ), Red-vented Bulbul (Pigli-pitta (పిగిలి పిట్ట)), Purple Sunbird(ఊదా తేనె పిట్ట (Oodaa Tene Pitta)), Kite (గ్రద్ద (Gradda)), Kingfisher (లకుముకి పిట్ట (Lakmuki Pitta)) etc. Each bird was explained in detail, covering its unique features, identification methods, habitat, and food preferences. This simple yet detailed approach not only helped the children learn how to identify birds but also made them aware of the importance of protecting their habitats.

To reinforce the learning, a fun and creative activity was organized where each child was given a “join the dots” bird outline to complete and color. Through this hands-on activity, children not only revised the features of the birds but also enjoyed expressing their creativity by coloring them accurately.

The program concluded with children enthusiastically sharing what they had learned. Many of them proudly displayed their bird drawings and explained the features of the birds in their own words. Their excitement and curiosity clearly reflected the success of the session.
Overall, the “Know Your Birds” program was an enriching experience for the young learners. It encouraged observation, creativity, and a sense of responsibility towards nature. By connecting children with the birds they see in their everyday lives, the session planted the seeds of curiosity and conservation at an early age.
