It was a sunny day on 5th of April 2023 when 57 students studying in 3rd standard of Indus International school arrived at the OES farm around 10 am. Guided by the school teachers, students maintained a lot of discipline while entering the premise of OES where our team welcomed them with open arms.

Introduction to organic farming

The introductory session was conducted by Mr Vijay Ramana N, Senior Farm Manager, where children were introduced to organic farming. In this two way communication, children had asked lots of queries which were answered by the experts. The group of kids were divided into two batches. One batch was given a farm tour while the other batch was involved with soil testing and jeevamrutham.

Soil Testing Experiment

Children actively participated in the soil testing experiment guided by Mr Vijay and assisted by Nagaraju, OES Farm Supervisor where they learned about different layers of the soil. They were also taught the importance of soil in their day-to-day life.

An educative farm tour

Mrs Prabha and Mrs Lakshmi conducted the farm tour where they learned about how vegetables are grown and harvested. They were introduced to leafy vegetables, flower plants, vegetable seedlings at polyhouse, water sprinklers at farm etc. They were given a brief idea about how soil is ploughed, seeds are sown and how plants are taken care of.

They were also made to understand the importance of polyhouse and its benefits for plants.

Making jeevamrutham - a bio fertilizer

Every child had obediently settled down to learn the techniques of creating bio-fertiliser i.e. Jeevamrutham. The children showed keen interest in this activity and joyfully participated in making jeevamrutham. The whole process was done to make them understand the value of natural fertilisers.

Gifting goodie bags

As the event concluded, each child were gifted with a goodie bag which included an activity book, jeevamrutham manual, soil testing handouts and groceries from our Organo Farm Store.

And last but not the least a heartfelt thanks to the teachers of Indus International School from the team of OES with whose support and coordination the event had become a successful one.
