At Organo Antharam, festivals are not just about celebration—they are opportunities to reconnect with nature, culture, and community. The Green Golu festival, curated by Organo Et School (OES), embodies this belief by transforming the traditional Golu display into a living tapestry of plants, values, and awareness.
This year’s Green Golu (22nd September – 2nd October 2025) carried forward the tradition with a renewed purpose. While last year focused on introducing residents to the concept of Green Golu and the idea of blending medicinal and ornamental plants with festive displays, this year deepened that connection. We introduced new plant species, just as new dolls are traditionally added to the Golu each year—signifying growth, learning, and continuity.
Over time, our vision is to reach a total of 108 sacred plants of India, each carrying its own ecological and spiritual significance. Through this evolving display, we imagine families at Antharam embracing this tradition year after year—learning about each plant, its uses, its story—and passing this knowledge down as a cherished part of their celebrations.

Green Golu (or Bommala Koluvu) blends festive tradition with ecological values. Over ten days, visitors are greeted not only by the artistry of tiered doll arrangements but also by the living presence of medicinal, ornamental, and native plants woven into the display.
This year, we began with naivedyam / prasadam offerings that evoke the warmth of cultural hospitality:

Jowar laddu, allam garelu (millet-based delicacies), rawa kesari, sweet pongal, tamarind rice and more — creating a festive ambience rooted in tradition and local flavors.

Continuing our commitment to environmental education, the Green Golu 2025 features a curated collection of medicinal and ornamental species. A few highlights:
Each plant is accompanied by its botanical and cultural significance, enabling visitors to learn about traditional knowledge and the health benefits of nature.

But Green Golu doesn’t end with the festival. After the event concludes, all the plants used in the display are carefully transplanted into the landscape of Organo Antharam. Over the years, these plants will become part of the community’s growing green cover—enhancing biodiversity and creating living reminders of each year’s celebration.

This practice not only reinforces the spirit of sustainability but also helps residents form lasting connections with the plants they once admired during the festival. The sight of a flowering Hibiscus or the shade of a growing Peepal now tells a story—of collective learning, care, and a community rooted in mindful living.
