Organo Et School (OES) recently hosted a captivating workshop titled “Discover the Art of Paddy Plantation” that was held on 24th August 2025. This program was a hands-on, immersive experience designed to bring families closer to nature, agriculture, and each other.

There were around 8 families participating in the program which included both adults and children.

The workshop began with a warm welcome by Mr. Harminder Singh, Associate Vice President of OES & Farming, who greeted the participating families and children. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the importance of rice in our lives, shared the vision and programs of OES, and emphasized how initiatives like this help reconnect us with our agricultural roots, celebrating rice as both sustenance and cultural heritage.

Following this, Ms. Kalyani from OES took the stage to demystify rice varieties. She introduced participants to several types—brown rice, Sona Masuri, HMT rice, and black rice—narrating stories of their origins and cultural significance. Her session also walked families through the lifecycle of paddy cultivation, from seed sowing and germination to transplantation and harvesting.

With theory done, participants moved to the field. While some hesitated initially at the sight of muddy terrain, both parents and children gradually stepped in—mud, laughter, and learning ensued.

Clutching paddy bunches, they planted saplings together, embodying teamwork, joy, and a shared sense of discovery.

Afterwards, children reflected on their experience and each received a thoughtful goodie bag featuring a selection of rice varieties to take home—five in total, inspiring them to cook and explore what they had learned at Organo Et School.

This hands-on workshop offered more than just farming insights, fostered family bonds, instilled environmental awareness, and deepened participants' respect for food. Through muddy fun and meaningful interaction, the children made a heartfelt promise: to respect food and never waste it.
